We’re glad you’ve decided to learn more about Narellan Community Congregational Church (NCCC) and we hope what you learn here will encourage you to drop in for a visit.
The most typical visit of a first time guest is to one of our church gatherings on Sunday. You may want to consider visiting one of our fellowship events first, but if it’s going to be a Sunday, then here’s some information to help you know what to expect.
Parking
When you drive into the Narellan Supa Centre at 38 Exchange Parade, Smeaton Grange, there will be ample parking close to our front door. We are located at unit 4.
Welcome
Our unit is very accessible throughout for parents with prams and those with disabilities. When you walk in our front door you will be greeted by our friendly Welcomers. They will be more than happy to help you get acquainted with the facility and to find a seat.
Children
We have a growing children’s ministry at NCCC in it’s early stages of development. We are committed to being a Safe Church. Our volunteers are vetted, having thorough Working With Children Checks, and are trained in our Safe Church policy.
We have a dedicated Sunday School room for primary-aged children and a Crèche/cry room for parents with infants and toddlers. The children remain in the worship up until the conclusion of the Bible reading —we are exploring how to include child-friendly elements to the service and include the children in the conduct of the service (e.g., helping out with distributing the Communion elements, etc). At that point, the children in primary school head out to Sunday School.
The Crèche is supervised from that point by volunteers who will help with the children so you can enjoy the rest of the service.
The children enjoy their own morning tea after the service, in the Sunday School room, then move into the church for active play.
Style of Service
When it comes our weekly church gathering for worship, we hold to an ancient-future sensibility. This is merely a fancy way of saying we want to learn from the best of the past and combine it with the best of the present to create an experience that helps us to encounter God and build community together.
Our Worship Services Team endeavours to make our worship as participatory as is possible. We have a standard liturgy/order of service, but adapt it based on the theme. We are mindful of the historic Christian liturgical calendar and reflect the seasons at least a little bit. We include multimedia elements. Our Music Team leads us in a range of songs that can be traditional or contemporary.
Prayer and reading from the Bible are key elements in our worship gatherings. We focus on our mission partners monthly and hear testimonies to faith from our members.
While we are a community in the Congregational tradition, our members and friends come from a range of traditions. We are mindful of our diversity and encourage each other toward becoming a learning community together.
Preaching
We aim to be a learning community being formed by the Holy Spirit, conformed to the likeness of Jesus (Rom 8:29; 1Co 15:49; Php 3:21; Col 3:10; 1Jn 3:2).
Our pastor provides most of the weekly messages in our church gatherings for worship. Often funny, his messages are always relevant and Bible-based, typically following the readings assigned by the Revised Common Lectionary. Notes from the sermons are provided here, along with audio and video recordings. These can be accessed as podcasts as well.
Occasionally, short courses are offered on Sunday afternoons. Check our Calendar of Events for dates, times and topics.
If you have any questions or comments on any of the content, do not hesitate to contact us.
Fellowship
Both before and after the service, you will always find warm and generous fellowship! At the conclusion of the worship, we move into the Fellowship Hall for food and drinks and conversation.
You will find a warm welcome at NCCC! We know a first-time visit can be intimidating, so hope this information is helpful and encouraging. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and we hope to see you soon!
